my warm spot...{nablopomo day 13}

this is my new spot...my new(to-me) chair...my new lamp
my new vanilla scented candle
that i light in the mornings
when writing my morning pages
{which i have been slack in lately}

this is where the kids sit
and talk to me while i am on the computer...
where my husband sits
when i am doing online banking
and we are discussing the dismal subject
of finances...
this is also where the dog
sneaks up to sleep
after we have all gone
to bed...

looking for the geese {nablopomo day 10}

i drove today.

i drove for hours
stopping wherever a picture
seemed possible...
clay roads,
steep hills,
provincial parks,
graveyards,
city limits...

and
finally
i found the geese...
chattering and clucking
and calling out mysterious
messages to the sky
before puffing up their chests
and taking off into flight...
i wish i could explain how
i felt inside
as they took off,
as the din of their voices
and their hard beating wings
passed over me
and left me in the silence
of a park-that-is-no-longer-a-park...

i stood
elated and excited
breathless and
taken away
by their formation,
their beauty,
their intent.

i am drawn in.

i think sometimes
that i lack spirituality,
i lack belief,
i am cynical and analytical and
precise.

yet in moments like this,
the organized chaos of take-off overhead,
this is when i feel
reverent...quiet...open
and peaceful...
like if i could just stand there
a little longer,
i might understand...
like something is so close to cracking
but
then
it stops...

and i am left feeling like i am
piecing together the tatters of a dream
i barely remember...

the sweetness of sunday...{nablopomo day 9}

and here is the end result
of another of my backyard trees...
a little more chainsaw art
done by my talented other half...
{whom i adore}

next is a snowman...

today has been a good day...
mild, misty weather
a walk in the evening for treats
smell of woodsmoke on the air...
buying new christmas lights today
and new decorations for the tree...
spending time at the christmas craft fair
last night, buying myself soap
that smells of lilacs
{i heart lilacs}
and wooden letters to paint...
a lazy stolen nap in the afternoon...
and knowing i still have 3 more days
off
to enjoy...

i could get used to this.
