wordless wednesday - looking back

April 20, 2022 Arlene Giddings

Not a true wordless wednesday
as you are now reading
words
but I just wanted to say
that I have been planning
an off island adventure
again for this summer
and that made me think about
last summer’s first ever solo adventure
and how frigging fun that was
and so I thought I would share
some of the photos
from the trip to
Hopewell Rocks, Cape Enrage
and, oddly enough, Truro…
(I tend to operate without a map
or a plan…)

I can’t WAIT to do this again.
If you have any suggestions on
where a girl who doesn’t like
a lot of traffic and crazy intersections
but does like nature
and trains and rabbits and deer
and breathtaking views
should go, let me know!!! :)

Ok….this really isn’t going to be wordless.
I have to say that when I look at these photos,
they take me right back to that moment.

I had gotten to the place that I was going to stay at
and I was full of nervousness and doubt and fear
and anxiety…wondering if I should have done this,
wondering if I should just go home.

I checked into the Inn…and then I went for a drive…
a random drive…that took me down this little hilly road
and I saw cows.
And I felt like I was home. Safe.
I recognized this. I felt calmer.
I could do this.
I could just explore THIS area
just like I explore at home…

This was the moment.
The shift.
The second I realized
hold on….this is fun!
Instead of anxiety,
I felt exhilaration.
Instead of fear,
I felt curious.

And then I found a restaurant that
served chicken fingers & the waitress
teased me about my salt consumption
and I ran out in the street to shoot a rainbow
and felt like I was at home again.

not really a wordless wednesday...

January 19, 2022 Arlene Giddings

I just don’t feel like being quiet today. :)

Did I tell you I got a new laptop?
My poor Dell XPS has been a trusty workhorse
for many, many years
but I feel like he’s starting to slow down,
like his days are numbered
which hurts my heart a little bit.
(yes, I get a little attached to
inanimate objects…it’s true.)

I’m probably being overly hopeful
to think I might be able to spruce him up
with some upgrades but we’ll see.

But I had to have something dependable
so I bit the bullet and tried a laptop…
(who I shall christen Iris….I just decided…)
she came 2 weeks ago but then I got all
confuffeled because I decided to
rearrange the entire living room
to make space for the laptop
(and no, the irony of this is not lost on me).

I am pretty happy with how things came out.
I have a new corner set up for the laptop and
monitor so I can work comfortably at home
close to the little blue desk
but I can also take Iris with me this summer
if effing COVID ever goes away
and I can adventure away from home again…

so now I have been installing new versions of
lightroom which has been fun! and a learning curve!
and trying to purge my millions of photos…
starting with my phone.
I have a longggggg ways to go.

Happy Wednesday…
I hope it finds you well and a little weird
and wacky and wonderful.
Those are all very good things.
♥♥♥

almost totally wordless wednesday...but with a few words...

November 24, 2021 Arlene Giddings

catching up on the huge number of photos
I took this summer and fall…
so will be posting randoms
here and there
as I try to make my way
back to this page…

also…
I think my poor old faithful computer
might be breathing his last breath.

He’s been with me for
about 12 years and has been
a very diligent, hard worker
so I really, really can’t complain.

But it is going to make me very sad.

So now I am in the market for
a new computer…or a laptop…
but the choices,
sweet mother of gawd
there are so many choices
and I have mentioned that I am not
good at choices?
It’s why I can’t eat at Subway
even though I love Subway.
Heh. I wish I was kidding.
I’m not.

Ok. Sorry.
This was not a very
wordless
wednesday.
I’ll try better next week.
:)
