you better start reading that book club book!
could i drive a taxi?
damn it…i forgot about the #100dayproject
i bet i totally could drive a taxi.
do i have enough yarn to knit a blanket?
where did i put the knitting needles…
oh! july…where am i going to watch the fireworks
do i remember how to knit
oh yeah, i was totally going to knit a robot!
i should watch marie kondo
or maybe some clint eastwood movies
a make your own sundae party would be fun
art classes for kids? would anyone come?
can i rent the shop out to someone as a workspace
oh! i bet i could build a robot in the shop if i knew how to weld!
note to self - google how to drywall
i wish i had a camper van…just a little one…
i want to kayak
i should really learn how to swim
i should get my bike fixed…
i need a new raincoat
oh! i should paint my toenails
paint…i need to get the watercolors out again….
honestly….i am not sure.
i guess we had a late spring
and now that it’s warming up out
all the damn time.
i have been cutting the grass
(with the new-to-me lawn mower that I bought all by myself)
and picking at yardwork…
taking the dog for long walks on trails
i have never been down before….
eating sundaes, watching sunsets, reading books on the deck.
i have done a little exploring,
taken some photos but didn’t feel like uploading anything until tonight…
i feel like creatively
i have been stalled…i just wasn’t feeling it….
which i don’t really panic about anymore
because i know it will come back,
it always comes back.
and sure enough, tonight
i found myself getting excited about editing the
photos that have been on my camera for too long…
i am thinking about pulling out the watercolors,
about how to build a giant cardboard castle in my backyard,
wondering if i could do a kid’s art class on saturdays,
thinking about how to build mushrooms and
trying to remember where i put the plans for the robot?
i knew it would come back.
it always comes back.
this candy reminds me
of the little yellow corner store
that used to be
next to my grandparents house…
”run over to lois’s and get a can of chicken gravy”
”can i go to lois’s? i have a quarter.”
this was always my favorite
(back when penny candy was really
i got stitches just under my eye
from this penny candy…
my cousin & i found a pop bottle
in the backyard
when i was like…5…
he would throw it & whoever got to to it first
could take it to lois’s….
and me being me…i ran out in front of him
just before he threw it…
it hit me in the face and i had to get stitches…
(i normally just tell people i got hit the face
with a bottle during a fight…it sounds more interesting.
they said my biggest concern
was that my cousin william
wasn’t going to get in trouble…
he was my favorite.
which is pretty obvious from these photos…heehee
i went all morning thinking today was Wednesday
new favorite thing.
my pen bled a little on this card
which made me sad
but the ballerina bunnies?
they made me incredibly happy!
this sunshine just makes me think
of beaches and bare legs,
ice cream sundaes and parades,
birds chirping outside my window,
dirt roads, air shows,
getting lost on hiking trails,
bonfires and music outdoors…
sleeping with the window open,
driving with nowhere to go
and no one expecting me…
i made a list
of all the things
that i needed to get done today…
and kitty litter,
and the sweeping up never ending
and had thought that if
i crossed everything off
list, i would reward myself
with a drive with the camera
and maybe (most definitely)
a stop at the dairy bar.
well…i crossed everything off the stupid list
and i did get out for a drive
and the sun even made a few short appearances
while i was out so that was a nice surprise.
i ended up at this wharf/lighthouse
(as i often do)….
spring always brings me through st nicholas
where i grew up,
where all my best memories are still vivid
and driving through there
always stirs up
happy and bittersweet/sad
and then to our beach…
(yes, yes, I know…it’s a public beach…)
where the sun started to set
and i remembered I hadn’t gotten my ice cream yet!
but as i got close to the dairy bar,
i realized there were 682 cars and 3 trucks and possibly a snowmobile
ahead of me so
i settled for the next best thing…
a happy meal with a new robot toy!
all in all
a very good spring-sunday!
(well, it would have been better with a sundae.)
