post-a-poem, april four

you bring me
stories of school age casualties
bearing badges of bright
new friendships made
enemy territory invaded
and evaded
battles won and lost
in a twenty minute recess
backs patted in a game well played

i sit and take in
your eager smile
and earnest tears
you encompass all of my love
i force your exuberance
to drive away my fears

and you let me
with a smile and a grin...

post-a-poem, april two {overheard}

"i have to practice the clarinet"
her eyes sliding toward the door
he shrugs impassively
never admitting he wants more

{the yellow balloon
in her hand
is translucent in it's girth}

she never questions his loyalty
only passes him
receipt of what she's worth

he accepts the scraps,
paper and pulp...
his eyes slide to the door
he's only agreed to
pass the time,
he's never agreed to more.

the prompt was from readwritepoem...
to take something overheard and put it into a poem...

post-a-poem, april one

if i could peel back
this wall,
would i find
what i'm searching for?
a lost conversation
between you and me,
scrawled with pink marker
on green wallpaper
covered in Raggedy Anne and Andy?

bunched between
the i rock's and U rule,
the i heart billy idols,
and we love bon jovi
would i find a quiet
BFF...{best friends forever}
a testament from you
to me?

i try to peel
but it sticks and breaks,
it rips
it tears
stubbornly
it just won't return
to how it used to be

instead
it remains as it is...
a fragmented
one sided
memory.

the prompt for inspire me thursday was wallpaper...
which brought on this poem
and also my new banner which resulted from
trying to make wallpaper in illustrator

tally up saturday...week five...

well...technically...this is sunday...
but whatever....

what have i been doing to be creative everyday
this week?

doodling, writing, knitting, making cd's for my i'm-so-late
cd swap, and gathering more ideas for knitting...

i made this for my new niece's bedroom,
i was pretty happy with it and may make more...
i would like to learn to cut my own letters though.
{i used letters bought from Micheal's}

so many other ideas swirling around....
involving gardening and mushrooms,
paint and glue and fimo and some smurfs...
a couple of robots...a birthday cake....

but right now, i see green grass outside my window
and that makes me want to
go sit on my front step
and welcome spring....

oh...and have also signed up at readwritepoem
for napowrimo...which means that i have
committed to writing a poem every day
for the month of april...
check it out!
