movie mania and cosmic bowling...

in a concentrated effort
to spend more "quality" time with our kids
{while they still want to}
{and even that is debatable at this point}
we have established a "family fun night"

friday before last, we went to see the new narnia.
personal opinion?
it was not as good as the first.
save your money and wait for dvd.
but playing air hockey with twelve...
and seeing her giggle fits in the theatre...
encouraging {daring} eight to go stand up front
and do his "no bonez" dance...
seeing twelve laid out on two seats fast asleep
{for almost all of the movie}

this was all very much worth the 60+ dollars it cost us to go.

this saturday night, we went cosmic bowling...
it was fun...and the kids liked it...and it was relatively
inexpensive...i think we will do it again...

other options include:
-getting a family pass for the local water park that does NOT
cost an arm and a leg
-springing for at least one trip to the water park that DOES
cost an arm and a leg
-beach!
-swimming at the pool
-drive in
-mini putt
-exploring the trails

any suggestions?
{keeping in mind, where we live, options are
fairly limited.}

oh...and have you seen penelope yet?
awwwwwweeeesomee.
i heart reese witherspoon
{i may have mentioned this before}
and also, christina ricci...

but the sets are so gorgeous....
very pretty to watch.

and a good story, too.

happy monday to you.

you will find me....

goin' for ice cream at the dairy bar
{hard chocolate in a waffle cone...always...}

marvelling at the tulips
that survived being
buried under the compost cart
but sprung to life as soon as it was moved...

on country roads
with a camera...

in the passenger seat of our new-to-us truck
{and once in a while even daring to drive it...but not anywhere that
parking
might be required...}

in the garden, spreading sheep manure {ick}
and organic soil...
picking out the branches and the clumps of grass
raking and digging and
loving every second.

oh.
and scraping the paint off the house.
chances are you will find me doing that
a lot
this summer...it's going to be a
big
job...
{think end result, think end result}

opinion, please?

so.
we bought our house 3 years ago
and have been totally focused on the inside...
gutted the downstairs,
moved the main set of stairs,
new flooring in kitchen and living room,
new roof,
all new windows,
that kind of thing...

this summer, we are redoing the bathroom,
finishing all window trim inside,
and painting the outside of the house.

i am torn on the color.

we are leaning towards
barn red
trading post red
or {my personal favorite}
spice.

what do you think?

friday-i'm-in-love...

- the faucets came in for our sink and new bathtub....
now all we need to do is pick tile

-as part of trying something new, tonight is our first "family night"...
we are going out for supper and then going to see this movie

- the season finale of greys anatomy last night...

- having a cool neighbor who happens to be a hairdresser
cut your hair at home for ten dollars...

-slightly warmer weather...baby steps toward summer

happy friday!
hope the sun finds you...
