whatcha readin'? {goal 35::book 9}

I loved this book.

I actually had no idea that
it was part of a trilogy until just now.

(and the truth is
I have waiting so long to write these reviews
that I am going to find it a bit of a struggle now…
hahaha. My memory is always faulty
after finishing a book…)

whatcha readin'? {goal 35::book 8}

I’ll be honest…
this is my second time reading this book.

I enjoyed it the first time I read it
and found it helpful
in moving forward in
some areas of my life
and I found it interesting.

This time around
it didn’t do as much for me
but it might have been my frame of mind…
and COVID.

But, I’m counting it
even though it was a reread
because I need to get to
my goal of 35
and I make the rules
sooooo….
:)

Oh, how I loved this book.

It took me a long to read it.
Not because I didn’t like it
or couldn’t get into it
or didn’t want to read it…
but because
every time I read
just a little bit of it,
it was such a smorgasbord
of pretty words and
enticing imagery,
it was like fairy tales and
the never-ending story
and poetry
all mixed together
in a visceral, visual feast…
I had to keep backing away
from the table
to digest
what I had just read.

I came across this
while I was reading the starless sea
and thought
it was perfect
for this book
because it happened to me
all the time while reading it.

There seems to be a lot of negative
review for this book,
looking for logic and answers
and meaning to the metaphors
and answers to the riddles
but I am weirdly happy to
be carried along the sea of honey
in a broken down pirate ship
with no set destination in mind…
so it’s a 5 out of 5 for me.

I picked this little book up a while ago
on a spur of the moment whim…
the cover drew me in
and I love anything that
talks about happiness…
it’s one of my most favorite subjects.

It was an interesting little read…
a little more
stats driven then I would have liked
and the fact that
Canada
was never listed in the stats
kind of irked me
a tiny bit
but other than that,
it was interesting.

whatcha readin'? 2021 {goal 35::book 5}

I love Jann Arden.

I always have.
I remember working at the Barn (university bar)
when she played there.
I was working the door
and complained to everyone
going in and coming out
that I wanted to be inside…
I wanted to see her…
I wanted to meet her…
I wanted to be her best friend.

Finally, I think someone must have told her
because she came out
and gave me a bone crushing hug.
And then, I was happy and stopped
whining which likely made
everyone else happy, too.

But I digress.

I have had 2 of her books on my list
for a long time…
but didn’t realized that there was an
earlier on
e so, being the
meticulous “read/watch
everything in order” person
that I am, I had to get it.

And it was good.
I learned a lot about her that I
did not know and it was interesting
to read about her journey…
and about her family.

I can’t wait to start the next two books.
