book of dreams (one)

i have been doing some work
on my book of dreams...
this is what the cover looks like
(and i will apologize in advance for the
dark photos...the sun is not co-operating today!)

in gold, it says "happily ever after"...
the inside is brighter than in these rotten photos...
i decided that my "theme"
for the book
would be "inspiration"...
what inspires me...
poetry,
writing,
other artists,
ideas,
lyrics,
quotations,
that kind of thing...
the quote is hard to see
in this photo
but it says
"There are two ways of
spreading light:
to be the candle
or
the mirror that reflects it"
Edith Wharton

and that is the beginning
of my
book of dreams...

big bouncy baby boy!

my brother and his wife
gave birth saturday night
to a healthy, happy
big and bouncy
black haired
baby boy!

hurrah!

this is their first and
i am so happy for them...
they are going to be fantastic parents!

i have been there for the birth of two of my brothers'
children...the main reason i go is not only to support
my sister in laws or to be there to welcome the baby
into the world but mostly...
i want to see my brothers hold their babies
for the first time...to see them transform from
my brother to a father...
to see that tenderness, the amazement, the wonder...
the pride and the quickly-brushed-away tears.

guess i don't need to rush on that pink and white blanket
though...
heehee

edited to say: check here for my sunday scribblings entry for week five
only if you are interested,of course, i'm not trying to be bossy, heh heh :)

grateful friday...

- the adorable new look my blog is wearing
compliments of the talented joleen

- the kind comments left by blog-friends regarding
the new look :)

- being singled out by the co-ordinator of the
autism IBI therapy training i am currently taking
as having heard that "i was a natural" and that
i would have no problems with the training.

- a week of only one child to look after which
greatly reduces my stress and has allowed me
to regain some of my lost sanity.

- bamboo blinds stained dark finally bought
for two of our 5 living room windows...

-sunshine streaming through said blinds

- a conversation with my son "six" in which
he explained to me that all boys want is
money, cars and a girl. when i asked him
if thats what he wanted, he exclaimed,
"well, not a CAR! but i would like a million
dollars and one girl". heh heh.

- its the end of the month and there is enough
money in the account to cover all the bills.

- the stressful "hearing" i had to attend in regards
to a claim being made by a former landlord/friend
that we left the premises still owing money has
been held and decided on in our favor. i hate
confrontation of any kind, so i'm even more
grateful to my best-friend-who-happens-to-be
-a-lawyer who came with me and held my hand...

- the constant sweet support of my husband...
i don't know if it is just "spring" or the kids not
being here or what, but it feels like we just met
again...i love when that happens.

happy friday!

a song for poetry thursday...

Famous Blue Raincoat

It’s four in the morning, the end of december
I’m writing you now just to see if you’re better
New york is cold, but I like where I’m living
There’s music on clinton street all through the evening.

I hear that you’re building your little house deep in the desert
You’re living for nothing now, I hope you’re keeping some kind of record.

Yes, and jane came by with a lock of your hair
She said that you gave it to her
That night that you planned to go clear
Did you ever go clear?

Ah, the last time we saw you you looked so much older
Your famous blue raincoat was torn at the shoulder
You’d been to the station to meet every train
And you came home without lili marlene

And you treated my woman to a flake of your life
And when she came back she was nobody’s wife.

Well I see you there with the rose in your teeth
One more thin gypsy thief
Well I see jane’s awake --

She sends her regards.
And what can I tell you my brother, my killer
What can I possibly say?
I guess that I miss you, I guess I forgive you
I’m glad you stood in my way.

If you ever come by here, for jane or for me
Your enemy is sleeping, and his woman is free.

Yes, and thanks, for the trouble you took from her eyes
I thought it was there for good so I never tried.

And jane came by with a lock of your hair
She said that you gave it to her
That night that you planned to go clear

-- sincerely, l. cohen

my first real job of any truth and reality
was at a record store.
one day a man came in the store
and bought a leonard cohen cd.
i mentioned that i liked his poetry...
a couple of days later, the same man came back
with 6 poetry books for me,
all leonard cohen...
he just gave them to me.

i have loved this song
from the first moment i heard it...
the lyrics, the deepness of his voice,
the sadness, the honesty.

i'm in love!

joleen
so sweetly offered
to do a banner for me
and i
eagerly
accepted...

(by eagerly, i mean fairly danced with anticipation
whilst sending joleen numerous excited emails
and obsessively checking my email to see if she
had answered)

i am so
stoked...
heh heh...
stoked....
i'm going to start using that word again...

anyhow,
i want to say a huge
THANK YOU
to joleen for doing this me
....

i am definately grateful!
:)

oh and the name change,
joleen did that for me, too...
i really didn't think that "bloody hell"
described where i was at in my life
right now...
and i suggested geek inc to joleen
and she agreed it would be a cool change...

so, welcome to geek inc!
