snippet of a saturday...without pictures...

-creative everyday
journaled (almost) every morning
doodled (trees, girls with big heads, balloon words)
made impromptu bookmarks for my current "book of lists"
decorated the rubber bands that holds my current book of lists together
knit (very little)
tried a new recipe involving bean sprouts (which we have never bought before)

-reading
finished lullabies for little criminals and hol-eeeeee, did i like that book.
gritty and sad, funny and real, poetic and honest...
it stayed with me for hours after.

-listening
don't laugh...but i have been listening to this and this and this on youtube at work

-watching
nothing...i even missed greys anatomy this week...
but going to see juno very soon and thinking i would like the see
the first season of this

sorry for no pictures but sadly, i have none uploaded to the laptop...yet...

in need of a grateful friday post.

the way this morning has been going
has put me in real need of doing a grateful friday post...
a friday-i-love...
a friday-remind-me-of-all-that-is-good
because this morning has been so bad.

first.
a quick vent of the bad:
8's getting in trouble at school for not
staying in the same place
in lineup for the bathroom
and apparently he had already rec'd two pushpins
(their "warning" system) which no one saw fit to let
us know about...i have no problem with discipline
but i would like to know about it before it reaches
detention...it annoys me when people preach parent
interaction but then don't hold up their end.

then, the small things:
pms-cranky, still cluttered house, cold feet, bills,
missing nail clippers, no milk, slight headache AGAIN,
8 missing his hat and gloves, 12 forgetting to wear her
boots home and having to walk to school in her indoors,
husband's computer just stopped working.

and now...
my friday i love...friday i'm grateful.

- pink tinged clouds this morning
- it's friday
- the car is full of gas
- bought a new journal in anticipation of doing this
(which maybe, i will get at on the weekend)
- tomato juice, ice cold with a smattering of salt and pepper
- no shovelling...yet anyway...
- the thought that even on a rotten morning...things could
be so much worse...to remind myself of that.

happy friday to you...

renovating gkgirl style....

sigh.

here is how a small project renovation
happens in our household...

my husband decided to build a new bed for eight...
perfect...
done with no real misery.

then decides to hang our new tv on the wall...
in the corner...
therefore needs a "corner contraption"...
welds one out of steel...
done...

leads to having to build a new cabinet to hold dvd player
x box, dish box etc etc...
this needs to be painted black...
almost done.

leads to deciding to wire the computer up to the tv
so that we can access everything on our computer from the
x-box controls and he can also provide a third router
for my laptop...
in the process of doing this
nicks a hole into the rad and water starts spraying...

this gets welded and then,
the furnace won't work.

we go to bed.

get up this morning and suddenly decide to take
12's bed out and put 8's bed in her room, in a new revised position
(chopping the legs off) which leads to deciding to put
old tv cabinet in her room which leads to 12 hours of
taking her room apart so this dream could become a reality...

meanwhile...
husband is painting new cabinet, making new drawer fronts
for 8's bed, chopping legs off 12's new bed, fixing the furnace
and making pancakes...

and that is how we do "one small project".

gah.
