one day of sun and blue sky
and now back to being wakened by
the heavy pelting of frozen drizzle
hitting our windows...

since i missed
friday-i'm-in-love
i will share it now,
the condensed version:

-talking to my mom on the phone last night and hearing her
so excited about their trip to Vegas! (they leave today)

-knowing i did the right thing by ripping back my knitting
because the re-do looks so much better.

-starting this book and knowing right away that it's going
to be a good one...

-warm and soft flannel blankets, shared.

-the kid's using their floam to make "a new species"
and then writing about them so that i could put it
on my blog...



the pictures are dark and grainy..but what isn't lately?

messy weather...

not to keep going on about the weather
but right now, it's a pretty big thing here...



20 000 homes without electricity,
trees still heavy with ice
and high winds coming tonight...

the kids haven't been in school yet this week...


how something can be so pretty
and yet...


so destructive...
it's baffling.

the aftermath...

our street this morning...
this tree fell.
the whole tree.

this second one fell
right in our neighbor's yard,
luckily it didn't hit anything.


we are hoping this group will be ok,
although my husband just came in
and said
branches are still falling
this morning from the weight
even with no wind.

i can't tell you how eerie
it was to be out there this morning
with the stillness and the silence
and the sound of
ice cracking and tinkling
and the branches heavy and ominous
in their
beauty.
