strawberry plants and hummingbirds...and a realization.

i was going to start this post off
with an apology...
a "sorry this seems so much like a gardening blog lately
instead of a..."
well..of a what?
what kind of blog is this really?
how do i define it?
should i define it?
can it be defined?

and then i realized,
in my head, i correlate blog with journal.
that's why i'm not overly hung up on comments
{however, i LOVE comments, so if you do comment,
please don't stop!!!}
but if i had no comments, i don't think i would stop
coming here...day after day...

i like that at the beginning of each month,
i can go back 3 years and see where i was at.
i think it helps to make me try to think creatively.
i like thinking about it throughout the day...
what to write, what pictures to post...

and speaking of pictures...

our new hummingbird feeder....

and squirrel feeder....

and i am sooooo excited about the strawberry plants...
we have the hanging basket which she said should give a bowl
a day,
plus 20 plants for the garden...

plants waiting for the fear of frost to go away...

tomatoes, lettuce, cucumber...

i love summer.

stream of conscious saturday...

april 2008 031, originally uploaded by gkgirl.

a walk to work-silent sun in my eyes
words bouncing + tumbling
ideas forming + shaping
shifting + evolving
i can't keep up
with my own pace
blue sky above the green of the trees
time
endless
blows me away
stream of consciousness in a
quiet office
scribble scrabble sketchy etchings
of a 20 minute walk
a foray into my mind

i think this might be my new saturday thing for a bit...
to just come to the page,
write pell mell and happenstance.
see where it takes me
on a stream of consciousness saturday

friday-i'm-in-love...

with what i'm looking forward to:

family fun night at my eight's elementary school tonight...
i'm taking my camera in hopes of getting some good pictures
of him in a different environment...

working in the garden this weekend...my dad is coming with
the rototiller and i'm armed with sheep manure and peat.

a drive to look at the huge wind turbines on sunday maybe...
definitely taking the camera.

take out tonight and bbq the rest of the weekend...

yay fridays! {especially sunny ones}

movie mania and cosmic bowling...

in a concentrated effort
to spend more "quality" time with our kids
{while they still want to}
{and even that is debatable at this point}
we have established a "family fun night"

friday before last, we went to see the new narnia.
personal opinion?
it was not as good as the first.
save your money and wait for dvd.
but playing air hockey with twelve...
and seeing her giggle fits in the theatre...
encouraging {daring} eight to go stand up front
and do his "no bonez" dance...
seeing twelve laid out on two seats fast asleep
{for almost all of the movie}

this was all very much worth the 60+ dollars it cost us to go.

this saturday night, we went cosmic bowling...
it was fun...and the kids liked it...and it was relatively
inexpensive...i think we will do it again...

other options include:
-getting a family pass for the local water park that does NOT
cost an arm and a leg
-springing for at least one trip to the water park that DOES
cost an arm and a leg
-beach!
-swimming at the pool
-drive in
-mini putt
-exploring the trails

any suggestions?
{keeping in mind, where we live, options are
fairly limited.}

oh...and have you seen penelope yet?
awwwwwweeeesomee.
i heart reese witherspoon
{i may have mentioned this before}
and also, christina ricci...

but the sets are so gorgeous....
very pretty to watch.

and a good story, too.

happy monday to you.
