friday i'm in love...

February 16, 2018 Arlene Giddings

♥  I haven't posted a photo of this little guy in a while

♥  ok...I don't think it would be a big surprise to anyone
to find out that I would totally support the idea of
"wednesday cake" ... (or Monday or Tuesday or...you get the picture)
just cake in general...♥ ♥

♥  this adorable website....i want one of everything.

♥  I don't know if I have ever written about my
little baby bullet journal.  I bought this at HMS Office
Supplies
on my birthday last year and I absolutely love it.
I use my big bullet journal for all the pretty stuff.  But this
baby bullet just gets the brainstorming, the quick notes,
the quotes pulled out of books and blogs I want to read.
I absolutely love it and want to buy all of the colors...
although...I am partial to orange.  And it's the perfect size!

♥  I love this story.  It resonates deeply with me even though
cooking is obviously not my thing & I suspect that is apparent to anyone
that knows me.  But I think because of his age...and because it gives me
hope that I can still find my way.  They say change is the only constant,
the only thing you can really rely on...and I can see the truth in that as
my kids get older, as I consider that things I still want to do.  It gives me
hope that it's not too late or inconceivable to think that I might write a
book someday...or go to Cabot Trail...or meet Billy Idol.

the best way to cure winterblues is...

February 15, 2018 Arlene Giddings

to put on your best googly eyed monster hat
so no one knows it's you
and go out to the play-doh garden
and pick some fresh lemondrop flowers.

Works like a charm for me EVERY friggin' time.

tuesday truths...winterblues

February 13, 2018 Arlene Giddings

I've been struggling a little this winter...
I haven't quite been myself.
Winter always wears me down but this year
I'm a little bit sadder, a little more uncertain...
my self confidence is a little worse for wear
and my heart feels a little bruised...
I feel like if I pretend hard enough
that everything is A-OK...then...
maybe I can fool myself too.

And for the most part...it works.

But I am starting to feel a shift.
The days are getting just a smidgen longer...
that tiny extra bit of brightness
has been enough to push me forward a couple of steps.
I can feel a little spark of energy...
and I want to turn it into a full blown fire.

I have been getting back out with my camera
and even went back to the gym...
made it to yoga...spent some time in the hot tub/sauna...
walked through snow filled woods...
and started some new art projects that I am excited about.
I'm reading books and joining book clubs
and writing groups...sometimes you just have to
force yourself to keep going...until you realize you
aren't forcing it anymore...

there IS a light at the end of the tunnel...
just keep swimming
(OK.  I might be getting my sayings confused
but you get my snowdrift).

whatcha readin'? {2018::book 4 - goal 24}

February 12, 2018 Arlene Giddings

I kind of love books
about books
.

And I love when authors
talk about writing and reading
and what has inspired them.

I really enjoyed this peek into what makes Anna Quindlen's
synapses fire.  She talks of being a voracious reader as a child
and I totally get that.
When I was a kid, reading was my main choice of past-time
(except for Saturday mornings...that was totally reserved for smurfs and captain caveman).

And...there were reading lists...
I think we all know how I feel about lists!
(if you are new here...I LOVE THEM).

Totally worth checking out...lots of information
and insights around censorship as well as thoughts
on what makes for "good writing".
I definitely enjoyed reading this.
