where have i been when i haven't been here....

June 26, 2019 Arlene Giddings

honestly….i am not sure.

i guess we had a late spring
and now that it’s warming up out
i
just
want
to
be
outside…
all the damn time.

i have been cutting the grass
(with the new-to-me lawn mower that I bought all by myself)
and picking at yardwork…
taking the dog for long walks on trails
i have never been down before….
eating sundaes, watching sunsets, reading books on the deck.

i have done a little exploring,
taken some photos but didn’t feel like uploading anything until tonight…

i feel like creatively
i have been stalled…i just wasn’t feeling it….
which i don’t really panic about anymore
because i know it will come back,
it always comes back.

and sure enough, tonight
i found myself getting excited about editing the
photos that have been on my camera for too long…
i am thinking about pulling out the watercolors,
about how to build a giant cardboard castle in my backyard,
wondering if i could do a kid’s art class on saturdays,
thinking about how to build mushrooms and
trying to remember where i put the plans for the robot?

i knew it would come back.
it always comes back.
:)

friday i'm in love...

May 10, 2019 Arlene Giddings

♥ with getting back outside again…sometimes with a pug on a leash,
sometimes in polka dot rain boots and a winter hat
but almost always with a camera of some kind…
this is where I am always happy.

♥ this trailer just gave me goosebumps. :)

♥ and this one….

♥ i am trying to put my phone down more often
so this article on binge reading struck me….

♥ i get a lot of headaches…and no, that is not my friday i’m in love…
but i started thinking that it was related to my neck and maybe
either how i am sleeping (or not sleeping as the case often is)
and the amount of time i spend on a computer…so i tried some yoga
for neck and shoulders and i honestly cannot believe the difference
it has made. i had no idea that the trapezius muscle could actually
be the root cause of my headaches…

♥ if you know me, you know i love ice cream…almost as much as i love fridays!

whatcha readin'? 2019 {book 10::goal 25}

May 6, 2019 Arlene Giddings

I debated on how many hearts
to give this book.

The writing was pretty good but,
occasionally, in places,
it felt forced…
like…too much…
it reminded me of how I loved books like
VC Andrews and SE Hinton when I was a teenager
but, now, the writing makes me
cringe
just a little…
it’s just trying a tiny bit too hard.

But…the story totally carried me along
and held me til the end.

In the end, I gave it

whatcha readin'? 2019 {book 9::goal 25}

April 29, 2019 Arlene Giddings

This book.

Wow.

This book.

This book broke my heart
into a million jagged little pieces
and then stomped all over them
with big black combat boots
and then
melted it all back together again
and left me a
jumbled crying mess.

I fell in love with this book…
the story, the intensity, the brutal descriptions
contrasting so sharply against the
tender moments….

Read this one.
(and when I rated it in the log I keep on my phone,
I rated it with five broken hearts).

whatcha readin'? 2019 {book 8::goal 25}

I love when I am sad to finish a good book
(Where the Crawdads Sing)
but then my next rebound book is
so good
it takes away the sting of turning the
last page of the awesome book you just finished.

The Dry is full of great writing,
interesting characters, a quick storyline
that pulls you along
and kinda breaks your heart in places…
I read this one in a very short
period of time
because
I couldn’t put it down.

I would definitely read more by Jane Harper.
