friday i'm in love....a little bit of ranting, a lot of raving. ♥

While the day started off
iffy
with a frustrating trip
to the walk in clinic
(getting there half an hour
before they opened according to
their website but finding out that
if you want to register
you really have to come AN HOUR
before the time posted
ON THEIR WEBSITE…
am I bitter? maybe a l'il bit)

it got better.

I spent some time reading a new book
(that is SO good, by the way)
by the boardwalk
and even did a short walk
in between weird little rainshowers…
AND I ate at Subway
which I can do now
because I can order using the app!!!
If you know me, you will know
that ordering from Subway stresses me out…
it’s too many questions…
as soon as they ask me what kind of bread,
i’m done. I’ve drawn a blank. I begin
stuttering & stammering and then
I lose the thread of the entire food order
and sometimes just leave.

So yeah…the app saved my life. :)

and then…..there was ice cream…. :)

♥ when 26 was about 3, she said “that’s ok, I’ll wear it again when
I come back as a little girl” because she had outgrown a favorite dress…
this made me think of that.
♥ I really, really wanna stay here….I know it’s slightly out of my
usual range of “maritime travel” though. Heh.

When your brain is
swirling around incomprehensible
current events and
the fear and panic and sadness
that the people must
be feeling right now,
when everything feels uncertain…
hazy, smudged,
like a fever dream.

And you wonder
what you can do,
what should you do,
can you do anything,
and you try to hold on to
that part of your heart that
is a little bit calm
and so you make yourself
steer away from the news
and you lose yourself in the
internet for a little bit…in the shiny happy places…
for a little bit…

friday i'm in love...

it’s a quiet, cool
february friday
in the big orange house.

today has consisted
of work,
checking the basement for water,
getting taught by 22 on how
to use the macgyvered sump pump,
eating a chocolate bar
dipped in a jar of icing,
contemplating a big, big decision,
watching the snow melt away
(while worrying about water in the basement),
teasing 26 about “what’s for supper”
(she is gonna make me spaghetti),
daydreaming,
secretly smiling
when 26 tells me she is
making a list of movies
we can watch together…
feeling a mix of
happy, content, peaceful
which is nice because i have
been very fragile and full of sharp, jagged,
emotional edges recently….

february will do that to a person.

• wabi sabi…I absolutely love this idea

  the delightful contemplation of what is old and worn
  that just sounds so perfect.

• this plucky 8 year old novelist :)

• I kinda feel like I need this in my life….I’m not sure why…

• but I DEFINITELY need to add THIS to my life!!!

• with making plans to see friends again…maybe even in public!
  it’s been tooooooo long!

• i watched the tinder swindler (that guy was a piece of garbage
  no doubt about it…gross) and it actually infuriated me and even
  more so, the people that direct their anger at the victims…sigh.
  So, I loved this article. And I loved the last girl in the show….good for her!
  Actually they were all very brave to come forward knowing that
  people were going to rake them over the coals for being trusting.

  (Do I worry about being swindled/catfished…short answer - not for money.
  I am far to skeptical and cheap and paranoid around money…it
  would be hard for me to loan someone 20.00 much less 20 000…
  nope. Plus, my dad would kill me. Hahahah)

• and oddly enough, I watched this movie randomly
  and it had a similar thread…it is slow going at first
  but it is sooooo worth it in the end.

• and this song by Patrick Droney….I listen to it every day
  and every time, I think…this is what I want….
  someone that wants me to call them on my way home. ♥

friday i'm in love ♥

another weekend
another snowstorm.

i sit in a quiet, still house
and watch the flakes fall,
silently and quickly,
like there is a mission
to be met…
i feel an impending headache…
heavy and weighing me down.

i feel like there are things
i should be doing
but the day
has slipped away
and i have done
nothing
but watch the snowflakes fall.

and i’m
kinda ok
with that.
