get up and go tuesday!

well, it's tuesday and Easter has come and gone
in a flurry of snowflakes, freezing rain and wind.

we were stormed in for saturday and sunday,
so the downside is we missed easter-at-my-parents
but the upside is everyone did,
so next sunday will be our second easter!

the kids were happy with what they got
(webkinz and tamagotchis abound)
the downside is when they talked to their friends,
their friends said, "that's all you got?"
sigh.

i know it is a good opportunity to talk about
commercialism and family differences and
standards and politeness
but it is still hard to hear.

other upsides and downsides:

-watched babel...am not sure that i liked it really...was
thoroughly irritated with the ending
-made a pair of socks, although they are simple and
really just a knit tube to put your feet in :)
-spend some time drawing and was pleased with the outcome
-finally let go of a commitment that had been weighing
me down and even though i am kind of sad to let it go,
i am happy to be free of the detailed planning
-a friend saw my pumpkin hat and booties and asked me
to make her a pair to buy so that she could give them as a
baby shower gift...yay!

oh...and my blog turned TWO on the seventh....hard
to beleive that i have been doing this for two years...
and that i still love doing it...i think if i hadn't have
found the creative/crafty/artsy/poet/photo-taking/writerly
side of blogging, i would have lost interest....
but everyday, i come to the computer and am amazed
at what people can do, can achieve, can dream up
and pull into focus...of what people can give and share
and support....and i appreciate anyone that reads,
and my thanks and hugs to anyone who has been
coming back...i don't do it only for the comments,
but boy, they sure are a huge bonus!!!

ack.

wow.
time is flying by me
and i am finding it hard to get to the keyboard....

what have i been doing?

-knitting my first sad attempt at socks

-eating asparagus for the first time

-planning a new gym strategy, an attack on the winter weight

-reading past issues of gardening magazines
and dreaming about warm earth and seeds and flowers

-watching this movie which stayed in my head
for hours after....

-work, work, work, work, work. blah.

friday's poetry thursday...

i'm late, i'm late...
and i'm not even following the prompt...
but i am showing up,
even if i am looking a little disheveled and unkempt,
harried and out of hand.

but i'm here.

and there she began
in burgandy and green
silent as a whisper
strong and serene.
in her eyes
i watched whales glide by...
she barely seemed to notice,
never batted an eye.

and where did she end?
i never could say
she just disappeared
from the quiet corner of my mind
one day.

knitting away

so...
i have been knitting a bit lately
and here are the results.

i am quite happy with both,
although i wanted a yarn for the sweater that
was more organic looking,
more earth toned,
but this was the best i could do.

there is a little storefront
that has opened up in my area
that sells crafts and art
by commission
and i am considering approaching them
with some things.

however.
my nerves
are
not
so good.

i need to build up my confidence a bit first,
i think.

pictures can be clicked on to be seen bigger and better, i hope :)
