friday i'm in love...the snowstorm edition

♥ the anticipation of a snow day...a tank full of oil, kitchen full of groceries...safe and warm with nowhere to go.
♥ video chatting with our girl...since we couldn't go over this weekend

♥ tootsie roll suckers
♥ our new compost bin...this is going to sound so weird
but i seriously love this little bin! it just makes me happy.
♥ with watching "studio" tours on youtube...and drooling over spaces
♥ this FANTASTIC kermit phone that my sweet cousin dropped off for me...
along with smurfs to add to my collection!

♥ and my new favorite treat (don't ask me why
this is new to me...i KNOW they are far from new, heeheehee)
hot fudge sundaes from mcdonalds

in all honesty
i feel a little silly
that i am as excited
about this
as i am...
but i am.

i have been loving my new desk space
which is probably very apparent
by the excessive number of photos
i post of it...

but i was finding the lighting tricky.
the window is good but doesn't provide
enough light
all of the time...
and a lot of the time...it's uneven.
the lamp was good but the light itself
was too warm...
i was having a hard time telling what
colors were which when i would pick out a pencil crayon
and my light was too one sided...
i kept getting a shadow on the other side
and couldn't see what i was doing...

so tonight i splurged (and yes, if you know me...
this is a splurge...i'm very frugal)
on not just one, but TWO lamps....
AND a package of bulbs
that give a bluish light instead of yellow...
and can i just say
THAT I AM SO FREAKING EXCITED ABOUT THIS!
i love the bluish light...sooooo much better!

it's the little things.

♥ i have been completely blown away by the surge in blog traffic
as a result of being mentioned in a recent CBC article about the
top 5 island bloggers...
and i also think it's funny to be able to say
"no, no...i was mentioned BY one of the top five bloggers...(one of my favorites, i might add) but i'm not one...yet...hahahah"

♥ i have to get a bite plate....did i tell you that? sigh.

♥ i love taking pictures of pencil crayons.

♥ i might have dyed my hair slightly purple.
i see it in certain light and it shocks me sometimes...
but...mostly in a good way...

♥ i'm praying for a snow day.

♥ i sharpened ALL of my pencil crayons the other day...i have a lot of pencil crayons.

as i apparently have no photos of books on hand, here is a photo of a fairy tale looking forest that makes me think about something i would read in a book. :)

i went into 2016 with a goal of reading 12 books.

the year before
i had only read 8.

8 books.

me.

8 books...in a WHOLE year.
my face is still burning with embarrassment.

so i had set the bar low for 2016
(but not as low as EIGHT for crying out loud)
and set it at 12...
i read 18 in total, so yay me!

considering i have no weddings this year,
i am raising the goal to 24 (and hoping to exceed).
one down already!
off to a good start, heeheehee.

on a related topic,
i am trying to complete some of my 50 before 50 list
(because you know...50 is coming...faster than it should be, but definitely coming)
and one of the items on my list is to read everything by
LM Montgomery...including the journals.
i have already read a good number of her books
most of them many, many times
but am going to try to re-read them all anyway...
i have never read the journals so i'm looking forward to that, too.
(first i have to find them...i don't really want to buy them all...
but may have to).

Also open to book suggestions for this year....fire away!
