you gotta have a plan, stan...

March 17, 2018 Arlene Giddings

I think we all know that I love PEI...
and that I like to take random drives
with my camera and a healthy supply of diet coke
and candy...and sometimes doughnuts...
I usually go alone, sometimes with a friend...
and I usually end up documenting it here
or on my facebook page...

Last Saturday, I went to meet some friends
at the PEI Writer's Guild Winter Sociable
at Upstreet Craft Brewery
which was so much fun!

I stopped at Indigo beforehand
and bought a map of PEI.
The kid that rang me in said
"I hope you don't get lost"
as he handed me my map...
I said "The funny thing is
I have lived on PEI my whole life."

He looked puzzled.

"So...why are you buy a map then??
Do you have friends coming to visit?"

And I'm like "I want to drive EVERY road
on PEI and then use a highlighter to mark
what roads I have been on so I can keep track..."
at the same time thinking this sounds weird to say out loud.

He says "there's a facebook group for that!  Did you know
there's a waterfall on PEI??" and I'm like "I KNOWWWWWW!
I TOTALLY WANT TO FIND THAT!!!!"
and then I don't feel so weird anymore.

So.
I bought my map and I came home
and thumbtacked it to the wall.
I highlighted the roads I took to
and from Charlottetown that day
and decided that I am going to start fresh...
I know I have travelled a lot of the other roads
but I going to start highlighting them from
this point on.

This is slightly unrelated...but...
photos I took on the way down...
:)

maybe they really are self portraits like my husband always said...
i just noticed that they started having purple in their hair...

☻ this cracked me up.

☻ it's 7 pm and still bright out... :)

☻ i love when you really aren't expecting a movie to be that great
and then it ends up being THAT great...this was one of those movies...
darkly funny and sad all at once.

i need one of these...

seriously...I WANT EVERYTHING!

☻  don't mess with Canada...

☻  i loved everything about this blog post...

☻ this.  this was brilliant. and sad.  and scary.

this blows my mind.  i could watch it again and again.

Special video "Valentine's Day". From an artistic point of view, the flowers are represented in the 4 seasons. tuesday truths...

March 13, 2018 Arlene Giddings

♥♥♥
sometimes you are just so happy...
those are very, very good days.

♥♥♥
i know i want winter
to be over
but if it's going to storm
can we at least make it a good one?
one that shuts the town down
and rages all day
so there is no wondering
if you have to be somewhere...
because there is no where to be.

♥♥♥
i love pajamas.
and fuzzy socks.

♥♥♥
no name storm chips
are just as good
as brand name storm chips.

whatcha readin'? {2018::book 8 - goal 24)

March 12, 2018 Arlene Giddings

This is the second book of John Green's that I have read.
I read Fault in Our Stars a while ago...
well...so long ago that I don't really remember
if I liked it a lot or a little.

But I really liked this one.

I am not sure if I was drawn to it
because he describes debilitating anxiety
which hits close to home
as it is something my daughter had fought with
for years.
I think that anxiety of that proportion and intensity
must be hard for the person experiencing it to
describe in adequate detail...
I have always felt that way with my girl,
she tries to explain it
and we try to understand
but it becomes frustrating for her
because it's impossible to really
know what it's like
unless you are feeling it, I think.

And it feels like he does a good job of
describing what parts of it must be like...
and as someone that loves someone with anxiety,
it helps to be able to get maybe a little
glimpse into what it must feel like
from their side of the equation.

All in all, I liked this book.
I enjoy his writing and the characters.
I would definitely read other things he has written.
