friday i'm in love (on a rainy saturday)

I started to write
my friday-i’m-in-love post
yesterday
but got a little sidetracked
by the insane amount of rain
that fell (and found it’s way into my basement)…
Summerside had between 93 and 114 mms
of rain
IN 24 HOURS.

Needless to say,
last night was a broken sleep night
as I had to set an alarm
for every hour or so
so I could go see if I had to pump
water out of the basement.
Yes, this could be solved by a
real sub-pump
but for now, I have to make do
with my mcgyvered system. 🤭

BUT…the roof did NOT leak!!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
(no thanks at all to the original roofing company
who apparently caused the problem but
placed the blame on my chimney)
(plot twist: the chimney was innocent)

ANYWAY…I am soooo looking forward
to September!! I always love September
and not just because it’s my birthday month, heh…
but this September:

Four day weekend right now!
My birthday!!
Winners is opening in Summerside…ON MY BIRTHDAY!!
I thought I was going to miss seeing a bestie’s visit home but turns out that I will get to see her just before number 5….
WE ARE GOING TO NEWFOUNDLAND FOR A WEEK!!!!
The roof is done so I have someone lined up to replace all the water-damaged drywall in that bedroom (and the hallway) and THEN I can move forward with my plan to PAINT IT PINK!!🩷🌷😍

September is looking pretty fun!

AND NOW…THE LIST:

🫐 my sweet and so-talented bestie
(i know i say bestie a lot but
i can’t help it. accept it.) made me
like SIX of these adorable, absolutely delicious
blueberry pies!
she suggested i freeze some if i didn’t think
i could eat them all.

umm. i ate them all. 🤭

🎥 A friend recommended this and it was so much
better than I was expecting. It was funny and sweet
and I love Jennifer Lawrence.

friday i'm in love....

I love a long weekend.
I am not back to work until Tuesday
and I don’t even really care
(ok, I care a little bit)
that the weather sucks today.
I am warm and toasty
with a full tank of oil,
food in the fridge,
books to read,
shows to watch
and so many things to distract me
like planning my garden,
playing with my new phone,
and watching the birds that finally
found the feeder on my window.

Micro bits and pieces of joy.
There is happiness in noticing.

TO THE LIST…THINGS I AM LOVING: 😍

🐣I am obsessed with birds stopping by my little bird cafe. And the funny thing is that Finnegan the cat also loves to watch them. For an inside/outside cat, he is pretty laid back about them and will lay on the desk and watch them but never goes after them when we are outside.

🐣Last weekend, we went to a spring market
specifically so I could get this Tide and Tallow
hair mask and blush…I know I just posted about a
blush but this one is a different color
ANDINEEDEDIT, don’t judge me.
and hair mask? ohhhhh. You are speaking my love language. :)

🐣so excited about spring and gardens and plants…
I even ordered a ladder! I have plans. Big plans.
Possibly slightly dangerous plans.

🐣I am SUPER EXCITED about this movie coming out!
I laughed out loud watching the trailer.

🐣speaking of movies, I watched this for the first time
last night and it is such a beautifully animated movie.
I loved it. I was surprised to see it had some bad ratings
about the animation specifically, because I seriously loved it.
I don’t care a lot about critics anyway…
I like to form my own
twisted opinions.

🐣I don’t think I have to say this but I will.
I loveeeeee my new phone. (Galaxy S26 ultra, as usual)
I am sad I couldn’t get the same case I had on my S24
but I’ll adjust. I just don’t like change that much. Heh.
AND I AM FREE FROM THE REIGN OF CONTROL
BELL HAD ON ME. That change I am more than ok with.
