tuesday truths...the whiney, pouty, sulky i-hate-winter edition...(WITH FOG PHOTOS!)

the truth is
i’m tired.
i really want to stay awake,
i want to come home and work on new drawings
and paint new cards
and reorganize my closets
or, at the very least, pick up my clothes off the floor.

but the truth is
it is taking all i have to
stay up past 8 pm…

i turned on my heated blankets
on my bed about an hour ago
and. it. is. taking. everything. i. have.
not to go to bed RIGHT NOW.

the truth is
i know this is just what every winter
does to me…
it makes me sleepy and sulky,
constantly cold and
kinda temper-tantrumy-cranky-just-wanna-kick-things-and-eat-candy …
all i want to do is hibernate
until there is sunshine and warmth again….

so i tell myself
”self…if you just get one thing done each night
when you come home,
just one at the very least
THEN you can put your pjs on,
crack a cold can of diet coke
and go climb into that preheated bed
with your phone, your books, your music, your movies
and your robot nightlight
AND you can stay there all night if you wanna…
(just…please don’t eat sunflower seeds in bed again,
you know you are going to spill them
and those shells hurt if you roll over on them….)”

i am not going to lie…
i absolutely love these giant crows.
i can’t remember the last time
i saw a piece of art that
stopped me in my tracks
and filled me with such
strong emotion….
with such strong
sadness.

and they are made out of tires.

and yet,
so
much
feeling.

our cat, casey, had 2 kittens.
no photos yet,
because,
well…really…they aren’t all that cute.

they just look like mice that
can’t open their eyes.

annnnd i know i can’t keep them…
we already have 2 cats that kind of drive me crazy
but
i really want to keep them
and name them
ziggy stardust
and
major tom.

mackintosh toffee
and
an after eight bar
eaten at the same time
is a delicious combination.

i did not come up with this
on my own
but now
i can’t stop eating it…

(even though i might have
appeared to be grossed out by
the combination
when he suggested it…heh)

oh…and…i have writing group
on saturday…
and I HAVE NOT WRITTEN ONE WORD
ON THAT STORY
SINCE LAST SPRING.

sigh.

which might be a good reason
for me to commit to
nanowrimo
in november….
(once i get through in
inktober in october…heh)

I have been eating an abundance of cucumber sandwiches
Stir fried string beans are my new favorite.
I sold 3 watercolor cards...and am SO EXCITED...it always
kind of blows my mind to think someone wants to pay MONEY
for something I made...I will never get used to that.
I am loving this radio station.
I totally and unabashedly sang Rock Me Amadeus in the car today.
I seriously forgot how frigging awesome that song is.
I need to make a new playlist...any suggestions?

truth #1

this...well....this is the best sundae i had all summer.
this one wins.

and truth #2...

these cows kind of freaked me out.

at first, i was like
oh look!
cows!
and i pulled over on side of the dirt road
to take some photos of them

and then, they noticed me...
they started
looking
at me...

and then
they started walking towards me...
slowly
but steadily...
and all of them started doing
it once like
some kind of horde of zombie cows...

and i'm not gonna lie...

the truth is they
kinda freaked me out a bit.

tuesday truths at 10:30 pm....

i should have done the dishes.
i should have changed the kitty litter.
i should have put some laundry in the machine.
i should have swept the tumbleweeds of cat fur
out of the corners of the living room.

but the sun was shining.

and the car was home.

and the gas tank was full.

so instead
i went looking for pretty light
and abandoned boats
and dirt roads...

and now my heart feels
satisfied and content
(but also can't wait to go again!)
