friday i'm in love....

April 27, 2018 Arlene Giddings

I know I haven't been here a lot
lately but with the sudden and sweet onset of spring
I am feeling like my batteries have been recharged
and I am ready to get back to the things that I love...

Speaking of things that I love
here is a bit of a list of what I am currently crushing on:

♥  It was Administrative Professional Day on Wednesday...
I know I don't talk about my "real" job a lot here (or any
social media...I like a firm line between home and work),
but I have to say that the people that I work with
were incredibly sweet this whole week...and the
countless cans of diet coke and enormous supply of jujubes
made me smile.  I love my job.

♥  I love that a real life ongoing game of tag was the inspiration
for this movie which looks like it is going to be hilarious!

♥  sunshine

♥  an evening ritual of taking the dog for a walk through the park

♥  an evening of Caesars and salty french fries, old friends and new ones,
loud jazz and lots of giggling...

♥  i still love this show.

In friday i'm in love Tags lots of links, she loves to link, friday!

happy birthday little blog.
today you turn 13.
(and i'm not going to lie...
that blows my mind a little bit...
i don't stick with a lot of my projects,
but...this one has stuck pretty damn good.)

tuesday truths

March 27, 2018 Arlene Giddings

♥♥♥
this morning
the world looked like
something you see
in a picture book
about a magical land of winter and
glittery shiny ice...
veiled in a thick fog
with the sun trying to burst through.

i grabbed my phone (no camera with me, boo)
and went for a quick and somewhat cold walk
mesmerized by the bright white of the trees
and the frost covered weeds...
it was perfect.

the air smelled like woodsmoke
and faint exhaust fumes
(which, if you know me, you will know i
love the smell of exhaust fumes
almost as much as the smell of woodsmoke).
it was perfect.

i climbed a snowbank
in my work skirt and purple docs
so that i could take the photo of the
two perfect rows of trees above...
it was worth the possible humiliation
of falling off the bank into the middle of Duke street
on a busy Tuesday morning.

on the walk back, my hands tingled
and i got little chunks of road salt
stuck in my docs
and my eyes watered from the cold
and still...
it was perfect.

♥♥♥
i popped into the liquor store
to pick up some cold shots
for my husband today.

somehow
i got my thumb
stuck in the box.

"well...that's a first"
the cashier said as
she helped me wrench the box
off my hand.

she thought maybe it was a flaw in the
packaging.
i suspect, however, it was just me.
:)

whatcha readin'? {2018::book 10 - goal 24)

March 26, 2018 Arlene Giddings

This was a pretty quick
and fast paced read for me...
I think I started and finished it
over the space of 24 hours.

It is one of those
what the frig is happening
wait a minute
is she...
did he...
would they...
wait...what did they say about her...
ohhhhhhh....I bet I know
only to realize
that maybe
you don't know...
(or maybe you are smarter than me
and you do figure it out
before it's spelled out for you...heh).

Anyway...good quick read
full of twists and turns,
would make a good summer read for sure!

whatcha readin'? {2018::book 9 - goal 24)

March 19, 2018 Arlene Giddings

I feel like I have said this before
but I definitely love the unexpected surprise
of finding a really good book
that you knew absolutely
nothing about
and had just picked up on a whim...

That was totally the case with
The Alice Network...
and I adored it.
I loved the writing, the story, the characters...
even the villians...well...I didn't love all the villians...
and then was thrilled to find out that
the book was based on some real actual women...
finding that out made the story that much better.

You should totally read this book.

Oh!  and Reese Witherspoon picked it
for her book club read
(I know!  I didn't know either that Reese Witherspoon,
who I adore, has a book club!!)

Oh!  And she (Kate Quinn) has a blog! :)
