almost totally wordless wednesday...but with a few words...

November 24, 2021 Arlene Giddings

catching up on the huge number of photos
I took this summer and fall…
so will be posting randoms
here and there
as I try to make my way
back to this page…

also…
I think my poor old faithful computer
might be breathing his last breath.

He’s been with me for
about 12 years and has been
a very diligent, hard worker
so I really, really can’t complain.

But it is going to make me very sad.

So now I am in the market for
a new computer…or a laptop…
but the choices,
sweet mother of gawd
there are so many choices
and I have mentioned that I am not
good at choices?
It’s why I can’t eat at Subway
even though I love Subway.
Heh. I wish I was kidding.
I’m not.

Ok. Sorry.
This was not a very
wordless
wednesday.
I’ll try better next week.
:)

tuesday truths...

November 23, 2021 Arlene Giddings

the truth is
we have hit that time of the year
when the
sun fades to darkness
as i hit the end of my workday
and i find that hard…

part of me just wants
blankets and pjs,
books and hot chocolate
or a netflix series i can lose
myself in for hours.

but i have been reviving the
inspiration jar
this last couple of days
(ok…truthfully, just since yesterday)
but honestly,
IT IS SO FUN.

i had kinda forgotten what i
put in there for ideas
so it’s been fun to pull one out
and see how i am going to spend
my time.
i have decided that whatever comes out,
i will spend at least half an hour on
unless i get inspired by it
and then it can be without time limits.

tonight’s was read blogs for inspiration
which then lead to a new blog post
so yay! ♥

(but i can’t lie…
at some point tonight,
there WILL be pjs, blankets & hot chocolate…
that’s a given.)

but on that note…
what have you been reading/watching/listening to
in the early dark hours of evenings?
i need inspiration.
:)

sundaze-sweet-sunday...

November 7, 2021 Arlene Giddings

November has been beautiful so far.
I have been exploring dirt roads
and spent some time on trails
and windy beaches and
even a little bit of stargazing…

And…
I have finally finished a new
watercolor painting!!
Inktober was really a good thing
for me this year.
If you followed along with me on
that geek girl journey,
you may recognize where the
idea for this painting came from…
:)

If you are interested,
it is listed over here.
It’s also on my Facebook photography page.
I am hoping to get back to
some productive hours
at the little blue desk
and my brain is buzzing with ideas…
I can’t promise they are all
good ideas
but ideas nonetheless.
Heehee.

Happy, happy Sunday…enjoy it! :)

whatcha readin' {goal 35::book 12}

November 1, 2021 Arlene Giddings

this book.
this frigging book.

i literally could not wait to
write about how much
i loved
this book.

i really had no idea what to expect when i picked this up.
for some reason, i always thought
that this was a book of poetry
which i would have been totally ok
with but it turns out it is actually
an incredibly interesting and thought provoking,
intense and empathetic book
about anxiety…
the various forms, the degrees,
the stages, the highs and lows,
the way it presents itself differently
on the outside for people…

i think (know) i was probably (definitely)
a little bit (insanely) anxious as a child
but i don’t consider myself to be
anxious as an adult…which may surprise
some people…yet if you knew me
as a child,
you know what my past anxiety level was
that i am measuring against
(to give this some perspective,
let me remind you that my grade one teacher
wrote that I may need psychological help
in my report card….and she was most likely (definitely) right….)

anyway.
i digress. :)

all i can say is
if you think you might be a little anxious
or a lot anxious or even not at all
anxious, you should still read this book
because chances are
someone in your life is and this
reallllllly helps to see where
they might be coming from….

a quiet kinda halloween-y day...

October 31, 2021 Arlene Giddings

It’s been a quiet, windy and rainy Halloween Sunday.
I have spent the day decluttering
and tidying,
adding songs to my newly made fall playlist,
drinking chai tea
and stealing bits and pieces
of the halloween candy…
making lists and
plans for November…
that include
attempting to wear
real clothes
during the day
instead of my parade of pjs
and
maybe a 30 day yoga challenge.

October was a great month.
The weather was incredible….
but that meant I had a hard time staying home…
I didn’t want to miss a second of
the fall colors
and remaining daylight hours…
but today I settled back into
the idea of home…
of coziness and books and
maybe starting some new cards
and paintings…

Inktober also ended today….
I will be honest, I am a little sad to see it go.
I really enjoyed it this year,
especially focusing on little geek girl
every day…
I’m not sure what November will bring.
People have asked about
what will happen with the daily little geek girl doodles
but I’m uncertain…
and also toying with the idea of
writing group again
and maybe challenging myself that way…

I also have to do some hard core reading
if I want to reach my goal of 35 books this year…

Happy Halloween to you…
stay safe but EAT ALL THE CANDY.
:)
