april is
national poetry month.
i have been thinking
about it a lot
but not really doing
anything about it…
and today i decided
it was time.

i looked back at some
old blog entries
from when
poetry thursday
used to be
a regular bloggy kinda thing
and it was funny
that the first one i read
mentioned a herd of turtles
(and if you know me,
you know that also
means my dad.) ♥

in typical geeky girl fashion
i am made a list of
things i might like to do
this month
in honor of poetry…
and also have started making
a list of poets
i would like to check out.

*sidenote: I really feel
like the artist way book readings
and doing the morning pages
might be really working….
that and the change in weather.
that always gets me fired up with new ideas.

the rest of this month over here.

(also i just renewed payment for this site
which always reminds me that
I NEED TO USE IT MORE). heh.

i usually have a lot to say...

about april being national poetry month
but, for some reason, this year
i have barely said boo about it...
i had good intentions
but they seem to have gone as
astray
as my firmly set goal to
be healthy and gain energy
(and really, who am i kidding...
we all know that's code for
"lose weight and fit into my clothes")...

so there is a week of
poetry month
left.

it's not too late.

i am reading
pablo neruda
and thinking about
shades of blue
and how language
can carry you
to a different place,
to a different
frame of mind...

tuesdays truths

• i ate a yellow tomato...and i liked it!
• i have started taking a multi-vitamin.
• sometimes i fear that i am never going to lose weight,
  no matter how many steps i get on my fitbit.
• i am getting impatient for spring.
• part of me wants to cut out diet coke...but a
  bigger part of me wants to cut it out but not stop drinking it...
  it's a puzzle i can't finish.
• i just realized april is national poetry month & i have not blogged
  about it at all.
• i also just realized though, that by posting this blog, i will have
  technically blogged about april being national poetry month.  Yay me!
• my dryer is making a high pitched squeaking noise.
• i hate high pitched squeaky noises more than i hate turnip...
  and that's a lot.
• the cats are obsessed by the wrong kind of mouse...they are
  obsessed with the computer.
• i have decided i am going to pay to get my hair colored (and if you
  know me, you know that i am notoriously cheap and normally do it myself,
  which usually results in a poorly done job AND a ginormous mess) and i
  have decided to leave one silver (i'm choosing to call it silver...really...it's gray
  but...tomato/to-mah-to...silver sounds cooler...like a rock star or a super hero!)
  streak in my bangs.

a month of poems...

April is National Poetry Month.

i love words.  i don't think that comes as a surprise to anyone who knows me.
i love to read, i love to write.
i love to scribble and doodle and play with words.
my house is filled with journals and notebooks and scribblers
words written on napkins and folded into pockets,
notes on post its, index cards left on the fridge...
lists and song lyrics, parts of a phrase i don't want to forget...

so April makes me happy.

and not just because it brings spring...or at least, we hope it will...
but April is also national poetry month.

a couple of years ago, i made myself a list of things that i wanted to do for the month of April.
i know that i am late already for this month's list,
but i think i am still going to do it...but i might add some spring stuff in there, too...
cause this has been a long, hard, BIG winter
and i think i need some spring
{even if everytime i look out the window, i am still blinded
by the reflection of the sun off the tree-top high snowbanks}
