tuesday truths ♥♥♥ and a hint of happy mail surprise/contest

It has been a minute
but my little geeky girl mini-muse
has finally decided
to come back and visit…

Not gonna lie
the truth is
I was getting a little worried…
I thought I might have scared her off
for good.

But she has been peeking
around the corners
and I have seen her shadow
every now and then
but then she’d scurry off
and probably hide
behind the couch
wrapped up in a blanket
eating all the cookies.

Anyway…she’s back.

And she said she had an idea…
it was a little bit hard to understand
because she was whispering
and her mouth was full of cookies
but I think this is the gist of it…

happy mail
makes
people
happy.

I love getting something in the mail
that is not a bill or a flyer or a bill.
So many bills. Blech.

And then I did the Ipsy thing
and that was so much fun
and then I did the chef’s plate thing
and that was so much fun
and I realized that I really, really like
happy mail
and maybe
me and my little geeky girl mini muse
could make someone else
happy
when they open their mailbox
and not cross-cranky-curse-y
like I sometimes get.

And the truth is
I like just making random things…
doodles, scribbles, cards, notes…
I like little toys and post it notes
and fortune cookies and
teeny-tiny love letters…
paper dolls and photographs…
soooo
here’s my plan…

I am going to make two
happy-mail-packages.
One to give away, and maybe one
someone can buy
if anyone has any interest in that
kind of thing…
and if not, then it will be two to
giveaway!

Stay tuned for the details…
we haven’t quite decided on
the contest logistics yet….
we’ll be able to concentrate
better after the
cookies are all gone.

happy mail... ♥

Winter is hard.
Extended pandemics
and restrictions and
bad news all the time
is hard.
Working from hard can be hard,
being single can be hard
(I can’t lie…neither of those
two things are always hard,
mostly they are enjoyable
but I need them for my justification
of spending money
on things
I definitely don’t need…) heh.

Sometimes
you just need a treat,
a surprise,
something to look forward to.

So I tried the Ipsy glam bag subscription
for a little treat for me…
it came this week
and seriously,
it was so fun.

So fun, I might do it again!!

hapy face bag!!

You fill out a survey of what things
you are interested in,
what your usual skin care routine is,
eye color, etc
and they send these little sample sizes…
and the cutest eye shadow package
(even if I don’t wear eye shadow much
I certainly appreciate cute packaging).

I haven’t tried everything
yet but I did try these…
the ginzing gel moisturizer (I don’t buy a lot of make up but I am slightly addicted to moisturizers) and the lemon lip sleeping mask was delicious…

The cost for this was 20.98…I think that was a pretty small price to pay for what I got…and…it was fun. Which is kinda priceless.

So now I am thinking that Emma & I might
split on the largest bag, which comes with
full size options…and see how that goes for a month.

And then maybe
in a different month,
I’ll shut this one off
and try something else…
like an art supply subscription!
or maybe toys of some kind…
OR CANDY.

(captain’s log::day four of temporary restrictions complete)

flyin' purple people eater....

I have wanted
purple converse
for as long as I can remember.

They were on
countless lists-of-things-i-absolutely-must-have
from about grade 10 on…
(along with a Far West jacket,
double tape deck and a CD walkman)
(oh and a pink telephone
that came with a LOCK
for in my room)

Everything I wore
in high school
was purple…
shoes, tank tops, sweaters,
socks, hair bows…
my binders, my duotangs, my pens…
the marker I used to
write Billy Idol Rulez
and I ♥ Prince
on every desk I sat at
was purple
(that’s how I always got caught).

I started a vision board
and one of the first things
on it was purple converse.

A couple days later,
they showed up
in my facebook ads…
(likely because I printed
a photo of them for my board,
not just because they were ON my board…)
but they were on sale…
and for once, I had the money for them
so I thought
well…that’s a big enough sign.
So I bought them.
And they came today. :)

Now I just need the snow to go away.
