not really a wordless wednesday...

January 19, 2022 Arlene Giddings

I just don’t feel like being quiet today. :)

Did I tell you I got a new laptop?
My poor Dell XPS has been a trusty workhorse
for many, many years
but I feel like he’s starting to slow down,
like his days are numbered
which hurts my heart a little bit.
(yes, I get a little attached to
inanimate objects…it’s true.)

I’m probably being overly hopeful
to think I might be able to spruce him up
with some upgrades but we’ll see.

But I had to have something dependable
so I bit the bullet and tried a laptop…
(who I shall christen Iris….I just decided…)
she came 2 weeks ago but then I got all
confuffeled because I decided to
rearrange the entire living room
to make space for the laptop
(and no, the irony of this is not lost on me).

I am pretty happy with how things came out.
I have a new corner set up for the laptop and
monitor so I can work comfortably at home
close to the little blue desk
but I can also take Iris with me this summer
if effing COVID ever goes away
and I can adventure away from home again…

so now I have been installing new versions of
lightroom which has been fun! and a learning curve!
and trying to purge my millions of photos…
starting with my phone.
I have a longggggg ways to go.

Happy Wednesday…
I hope it finds you well and a little weird
and wacky and wonderful.
Those are all very good things.

slow, snowy sunday...

March 1, 2020 Arlene Giddings

It was a slow, snowy sunday
at the big orange house.
There were naps taken
and yoga, bullet journalling and
a fair amount of shovelling.

In attempt to “embrace winter”
I took a quick walk to the park
to catch some snowfall photos…
and on the way back,
I decided today was the day
to make a snow angel…

snow angel. not a very good photo. but a snow angel regardless. :)

how naps are taken in the big orange house…

Then when I got back to the house,
I realized my neighbor was out shoveling her driveway
so I went over to say hi and introduce myself
and only realized after the fact
that I was wearing pink plaid pj pants
with pink polka dot rubber boots
and was COMPLETELY covered in snow…
you know…from the snow angel making…
and the very first thing I said to her was
”I lOVE THAT YOU BUILT A SNOWMAN!!”

Sigh.

Happy snowy, sweet, slow Sunday.

whatcha readin'? {2016::book 10 - goal 12}

May 23, 2016 Arlene Giddings

ok....before I can say anything
about this book
I have to say...
she is adorable.

a-dor-able.

so quirky & cute & funny
and she totally gets off track in interviews
(which is a trait that I can completely relate to...
except not really in interviews
because, well, I'm not famous,
but in every day life conversations
and during what other people would easily consider
to be making small talk...)

and I loved this book.
I really knew nothing about felicia day
when I started reading this
so it was all a pleasant surprise to me...
I have since starting watching The Guild
and her interviews and may
have tried to find her home number and
address...you know, just to say hi...
and oh-my-gawd-you GET me!
(and i'm only slightly kidding...heh)

any book that appears to have
EMBRACE YOUR WEIRDNESS
as its main theme
is obviously right up the alley
of a girl who was always called weird
(and, for the record, it only stopped kinda hurting
to be called weird
when you decide to take it as a
compliment instead of an insult)

plus I made a list of things
that I really seemed to identify with her on:

  1. Anne of Green Gables:: how awesome is that! and she wanted to move to PEI!?!  C'mon over, it's never too late!  you can stay with us! :)  (i know, i know...the stalker vibe again)
  2. She talked about a period of "who am I when The Guild ends" and I feel like I have been going through a bit of that myself with the end of the weddings...not on the same level (again...I am not famous), but still, identifiable.
  3. She also refers to herself as neurotic a lot.  Which made me think...wait...am I neurotic because I relate to so much of this?  Is that neurotic for me to think that?  I need to go google neurotic.
